There are two different sets of research monitoring groups in the university. The first one is the “University Research committee” (URC) and the second one is the “University Research and Development Cell” (R&D Cell). While the URC monitors the research activities of its Ph.D scholars, the R&D Cell provides guidance to the faculty in their research.
The university has focused on the following areas for research:
Skill development oriented action research is promoted by the university. As the research is applied in nature, it has to be necessarily interdisciplinary. Field problems need integrated approaches. For example, extraction of Curcumin from turmeric using Co2 plant will need inputs from mechanical, instrumentation, chemical, agriculture and chemistry departments. Similarly, the solar based water pump will need inputs from electrical, mechanical and agriculture engineering disciplines
The broad objective of the research policy is to provide guidelines for undertaking high impact and context-specific research so that CUTM will be well-known in the chosen fields in the next five years. The objectives include knowledge generation, evidence-based advocacy, experiential learning and strengthening the curriculum. The areas of research comprise all fields in Engineering, Basic Science, Social Science, Agriculture and Management.
