Nagaland University was established on 20th October 1989 is the only Central University in Nagaland and 13th Central University was established based on the Act of Parliament of India as THE NAGALAND UNIVERSITY ACT 1989. On September 6, 1994 University came into being having jurisdiction over the entire state of Nagaland. In the year 1997 the establishment of the academic departments was sanctioned by the Government.
