Suraj Singh Memorial College, Ranchi (A constituent unit of Ranchi University, Ranchi) was humbly started within the year 1972 by a couple of philanthropic and dedicated folks of Ranchi. the faculty was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Sri Kedar Pandey, with initial Intermediate Arts and Science teaching. The commerce teaching was more latter on at intermediate level and in succeeding years the faculty management was given permission to start out Degree teaching with Honours level all told the 3 Colleges viz Science, Arts and Commerce. Latter the faculty, management was confiscate by the Ranchi University, Ranchi and also the College has created a constituent unit of Ranchi University Ranchi. the faculty is located in a very brilliant, lovely and picturesque Ranchi-Kanke-Patratu main road.  the faculty building was given by the family recently Suraj Singh. The college has, presently, over 10 thousand students on roll,imparting education all told the 3 Colleges (Science, Arts, and Commerce) up to a few Years Degree Course up to Honours level to the scholars' happiness to economically and socially backward communities of Jharkhand.
