Bhagalpur National College is located within the municipal limit of Bhagalpur City, one of the oldest Divisional Headquarters of Bihar. It is situated beside the National Highway (NH-80) linking Patna-Kolkata. The college is one of the premier constituent units of T.M. Bhagalpur University. The college has a homogeneous sprawling campus stretching an area of about 4 acres. The river Ganga flows only one km away the North of the college. Bhagalpur, popularly known as a silk city, has a great historical antiquity. Bhagalpur has been a famous commercial and industrial centre with specialization in silk industry and trade since time immemorial. There is a good amalgamation of Marwari, Bengali, Angika and Urdu languages and cultures. Eminent distinguished personalities like Rabindra Nath Tagore, Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay and Ashok Kumar etc; lived here. Established in 1960, the college passed through phases of growth, expansion and produced a number eminent personalities in sphere of politics, administration, social services and academic.The college is managed and maintained by T.M. Bhagalpur University. There are 19 permanent teachers and 21 guest/visiting teachers imparting teaching in fifteen subjects of the faculties of Arts Science and Commerce. Teachers of the college are in good number participating in seminars/workshops/conferences/symposium at national/international level. They publish research papers in referred national and international journals. Moreover they have collaboration with other university in different research projects. Some teachers are also engaged as editor/reviewer of some reputed international journals. There are more than 5000 students enrolled in different courses. It is a co-educational institution imparting teaching of boys and girls. As the college is located at the fringe of the city, it has greater rural command area, where students come from far flung villages to attend classes and return by evening. With the construction of a bridge on the Ganga (Vikramshila Setu), students in large number from North Bihar got easy access to educational institutions in Bhagalpur. The college tries its best to inculcate among the students the fine human values for enlightens of not only their personality but also their contributions towards the society and the national at large.

Computer Laboratory

Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.

Library

Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.

Canteen

The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.

Seminar Rooms

The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
