Established on September 6, 1979, Dera Natun Government College, formerly known as 'Itanagar Government College', was established to provide higher education to the young and curious people of the state at a time when opportunities were scarce in the state. Transport Facility The institution provides two college buses for transportation to the students and the staff. In addition to college bus, the state transport corporation provides two buses to the college campus in the morning and evening on annual bus card system from Nirjuli and Naharlagun. However, the state transport bus service will be only available when there are more than 60 applicants. Students interested to avail the transport facility (College/Transport Bus) are required to apply to the college authority or Superintendent of AP State Transport Station, Itanagar as the case may be, immediately after admission as the concessional cards are issued on First Come First Serve basis as per number of seats available in the bus.
Travelling Concessions The students are granted the facility of travelling between Itanagar and their respective home towns and educational excursions on concessional rates by railways during the Winter Break and Summer Vacation, as applicable under the rules. For the General Educational Excursion, two seats will be reserved for the members of Students Union, i.e., the General Secretary and the Assistant General Secretary. The remaining seats will be selected purely on merit basis for B.A., B. Com and B. Sc.
College Canteen The College has two well-furnished canteens to cater to the needs of the students and staff. Food items are prepared in hygienic condition and are available at reasonable rates.
Auditorium The spacious auditorium, equipped with the necessary state-of-the-art equipment, hosts literary and cultural activities throughout the year to develop students' natural talents in various fields. The auditorium hosts various cultural activities such as music, dance, drama and instrumental music, as well as literary activities such as seminar symposiums, lectures by eminent professors, departmental seminars, debates and debates on important topics.
