Guwahati College has successfully completed 59 years of its glorious existence since 1964 and now approaching Diamond Jubilee Year in 2023. Along with fulfilling the aspirations of the students in the Higher Secondary level, the College has three streams in the degree course- Arts, Science and Commerce. There are 18 departments with an adequate and excellent group of faculty members. Apart from the regular subjects and courses, the college has meaningfully imparted higher education to the aspiring students of North East India, specially the students of Assam. The College offers a blend of academic, cultural, sports, and other related co-curricular activities, including NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, for the benefit of the students. The College is committed to its vision and mission to fulfil its objectives. As such the college maintains a cordial relationship with every stakeholder. The College operates within the rules and guidelines of UGC, NAAC, Director of Higher Education, Govt. of Assam, Gauhati University and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.

Library

The library plays a significant role in an academic institution. The society needs a library for imparting better education, both formal and non-formal. The College library has a sufficient collection of books in the form of text and reference. Currently, the College Library is situated with the College's main building. In addition, important Magazines, Journals, and Newspapers are regularly subscribed. There is also a facility for Reading Room in the main library itself. For better learning, the provision of Computer facility and E-library is also going on. The students have issued library cards for borrowing books from the library subject to Library Rules.

Girls Hostel

Hostel accommodation for girl students only will be available in the College. After admission, the students desirous of availing hostel accommodation may apply to the concerned authority in a separate prescribed application form available in the office on payment of Rs. 100/-(rupees hundred) perform. Those seeking admission into the hostel will have to pay a separate admission fee and have to follow hostel rules. For the time being the intake capacity of the hostel is twenty (22) only.

I.T Infrastructure

The College has a computer laboratory with 30 seats at present and has been attached to the College main building.

Auditorium

The College auditorium, with a sitting capacity of 500 students was constructed with the Financial Assistance from UGC and is used for holding various competitions during the College Youth Festival along with other cultural programs besides seminars and meetings.

Sports

The College has a play ground within the campus which is large enough for all outdoor games and for all athletic events. Multi Gym and indoor stadium for holding various Gymnasium and indoor events are under construction.

Parking Facility

The College has an affordable parking shed for cars, bikes, bicycles of College employees and within the College campus and for Students outside the campus.

Laboratories

The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students.

Guest Room/Waiting Room

The college has a guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

Cafeteria

The College has a well-furnished and hygienic canteen for teachers and students on the campus which provides healthy and nutritious food for refreshment. It usually functions from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. in all working days.

Campus Placements are available for only Computer Science Students as per my knowledge. Students from the 5th semester become eligible to seat in for the interviews and rounds. Companies like Wipro and cognizant visit every year. I m still in my second year so I do not know about the average package that is offered, but I heard it's quite nice. I m planning to seat for the placements too.

The college has established network with several recruitment agencies for offering placement opportunities to the final year students and the pass out students through campus interviews. The placement cell regularly organizes various programs for enhancing employability of the students through workshops personality development camps and IT skill development camps. Every year good amount of girls student that's placement in good companies. My plans after graduation is pursuing my post graduation and my Honours subject.I don't remember it well but I believe it was good. I have seen some people visiting, it was good and an enriching experience for me.No job placement till now, but would love to as we in urged of job as a student. So would to take up this opportunity.No job placement till now but would love to have that in our college as that will be our privilege have it in our college.

Campus placement is too good . Even home science student completed their course and came back here for future experience Some get sets in other places. My plans after degree is to complete my msc.

Not very much scope. I never experienced any scope for jobs or placements. So i will rate it poor. Our seniors are in good position now. But this is becsuse of their personsl growth, not becsuse of the college.There is no campus placement but the graduates from this college are highly recruited.There is a career placement department that helps students to decide a career path.
