UCBS Shimla is a premier institution extending education of Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Computer Application (BBA & BCA) to develop professional and leadership qualities with values of entrepreneurship, ethics and social responsibility amongst students. It is functioning under the Executive Council of the Himachal Pradesh University since 1995. It admits students from all over the Country for BBA & BCA and imparts training to make them competent and motivated professionals as entrepreneurs with leadership qualities. The academic program of the UCBS is approved by the academic bodies of the University. It is a nodal centre for imparting business and computer bachelor courses affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University. It provides academic and other curricular input to the students through exposure of industry and academia.Shimla itself is a place of congenial environment for learning with the features of cool and picturesque places surrounded by dense forests that inspire the readers and learners to concentrate their attention. Despite of a slow growth in the industrial sector in the region, the place has been preferred from the historic past by the British followed by the fore runners of the Independent India to involve and provide packages to encourage the learning of business activities.One of the premier educational institutions of India for education and learning in Himachal Pradesh is Himachal Pradesh University which is situated at the heart of the Shimla city, at Summer Hill. The visionary approach of the University necessitated for the establishment of the University College of Business Studies, long- back, as its own institution in the year 1995. The college is at a distance of 2 Kilometers from the main campus of the University (Summer Hill) which is connected with the railways. The college is situated in the Ava- lodge building near to Ambedkar Chowk, It is 200 meters at the road- side on the way between Summer Hill and Ambedkar Chowk.To reach the institution, local bus services are available from Old Bus Stand, Shimla or from the ISBT, University side to reach ‘103 TUNNEL’ Station at Ambedkar Chowk. The entry into the institution gives a feeling of discipline, academic endeavour and sincerity of the staff which has resulted to excel learning and reputation of the College. In the past above two decades, the institution has achieved tremendous success and crossed many mile-stones thereby, known across the Country and outside. The institution is known as one of the best institutions of the Country is disseminating education of Business Administration as well as Computer Application Courses at graduate level. Students from different countries prefer to get admission in this institution and are doing BBA and BCA Courses.

Computer Laboratory

Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.

Library

Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.

Canteen

The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.

Seminar Rooms

The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
