Many philanthropists and socially-oriented organizations believed that only education would take India forward. BLDEA was at the forefront of this revolution in North Karnataka, especially the Mumbai-Karnataka region. It was the capital of Jamkhandi state, one of the Maratha princely states and ruled by the Patwardhan dynasty. Started with 200 students, the college has grown today into a massive educational institution with a student strength of more than five thousand. Its campus is spread over an area of around 54 acres.
