All India Institute of Speech and Hearing was established within the year 1966 as an autonomous institute totally funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Asian nation.The major objectives of the institute square measure to impart skilled coaching, render clinical services, conduct analysis and educate the general public on problems related to communication disorders like handicap, retardation, voice, fluency and phonologic and language disorders.
The institute started with one post-graduate program within the year 1965 and currently offers several courses together with one Certificate course, three credentials programs (Diploma in Hearing Aid & Earmould Technology, credentials in coaching Young Hearing Impaired youngsters and credentials in Hearing Language and Speech-through distance mode); two undergraduate programs (B.Sc. in Speech & Hearing and B.S.Ed - Hearing-Impairment); PG credentials programs in Clinical Linguistics and rhetorical Speech Science and Technology; three post-graduate courses (M.Sc. in otology, M.Sc. in Speech-Language Pathology and M.S.Ed-Hearing-Impairment). The Institute offers pH.D programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and conjointly Post-Doctoral Fellowships.
