The Hon'ble President of HKE Society Sri Baswarajappa Appa together with his forethought and nice vision felt the requirement of a Dental College during this space. In those days there was no Dental College in north state space. Considering the requirement of dental health care facilities for the individuals of the Hyderabad state region, he initiated the Dental College institution in 1986.
With the terribly humble starting in 1986, beneath Gulbarga University the faculty started with the first batch of forty students within the dental wing of Govt. Hospital. the essential medical sciences were handled by the in a position College of Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College. The then President of India Late Shri Gyani Zail Singh, on 9th Jan.1987, arranged the inspiration stone for the 3 high-rise building on seven acres of H.K.E. Society land on the Sedam Road.
It took concerning 5 years for the conceptualization and completion of the planned College building and therefore the project saw the sunshine of day on fifteenth August 1992 once the establishment was shifted to the present existing building. At that point, the society was diode by Dr. B.G. Jawali as President and Dr. G. Nagraj Rao was the pinnacle of this establishment.
Sri Baswaraj Bhimalli within the year 1996, took an excellent call to call the faculty in honor of senior leader and former Chief Minister Late Shri S. Nijalingappa, UN agency served thrice as a Chief Minister - maker of recent state. He was the member of parliament from 1952 to 1956 and his vital role in each Indian independence Movement and state Ekkikaran's movement was simple. On twenty-first August 1996, the faculty was named as S. Nijalingappa Institute of Dental Sciences by the then Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri H.D. Devegowda and therefore the former Chief Minister of state Shri J.H.Patel.
In 1996 the Health University of state was established in the urban center then the affiliation of this College was transferred to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science urban center from Gulbarga University. The P.G courses commenced in College year 1998.
