Kasturba Nursing college In 1944, Late Honorable Dr. Sushila Nayar (Ex. Union Health Minister, Founder President, Kasturba Health Society and Founder Director of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) was entrusted with the responsibility to manage epidemics of epidemic cholera and protozoal infection in and around Sevagram. In due course of your time it, was felt that a clinic was needed to assist the final patients of the villages and therefore the same was started with a gaggle of primitive staff within the surroundings of Gandhiji’s Ashram.Dr. Sushila Nayar succeeded in preventing the unfold of epidemics. once Gandhiji was in jail, Shri. G.D. Birla had organized for a guest house at Sevagram for the guests of Gandhiji. This guest house was bimanual over to Dr. Sushila Nayar and reborn into atiny low hospital, principally for mothers and their babies.In 1964, the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust started Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) coaching within the same hospital. Vasanti Behen (Miss Barbara Hartland), a nurse from London was entrusted with the responsibility of coaching the ANMs. the primary batch of scholars was admitted in 1964.Sevagram is found eight kms from Wardha town. Earlier called ‘Shegaon’, it came to be called Sevagram, when Gandhiji created his residence here throughout the liberty struggle. currently it's become Free India’s journeying center. The hut during which Gandhiji lived is thought as ‘Bapu Kuti’. In Sevagram, there's a well equipped putative Medical Institute.
