The Basaveshwar Science College has its beginning in Basaveshwar College, Bagalkot was the main College built up before freedom in 1944 by BVV Sangha, with a social promise to grant quality advanced education. In the year 1945 Science area was begun, and was bifurcated from Basaveshwar College in 1967 as an autonomous Science College with a different structure introduced by his Excellency Sri V.V.Giri then Vice-President of India. Prof. B.C.Akki proceeded with the way of brilliance as its Principal. 

The Basaveshwar Science College is perceived by UGC under 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act of 1956 and partnered to Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. As of late our College is perceived as a College with Potential for Excellence by UGC. The College has developed into head advanced education foundation in the state during the previous six decades. It is the main free Science College in Bagalkot and Bijapur areas, it is obliging the requirements of Higher instruction in unadulterated science, connected sciences and data innovation in this monetarily and instructively in reverse zone of Karnataka.The College is Re-licensed at An evaluation by NAAC in Aug.2012. 

At present the College offers 03 UG projects (one helped and two self financed), 01 PGDCA, 04 PG projects (self financed), Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Chemistry. The College has grown great scholastic framework and has investigated with time the innovation benefits in getting the hang of educating process. The vision, mission and targets of the foundation are tuned in to changing situation of advanced education in the nation. Dr. C.V. Raman and Dr. Rajaramanna are among many recognized characters who have visited our College.
