Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru P.G. College Banda Uttar Pradesh in Admission

The college was established on 9th August 1964 in the memory of late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India. The industrious efforts of the then District Magistrate Shri Raj Kumar Bhargava, I.A.S. and some local intectual personalities including late Shri Seth Hari Krishan, P.C.S. have initiated the Himalayan work to enlighten the local youths through higher education. The land for the college was donated by late Shri Keshav Chandra Singh Chaudhary, late Shri Chandra Bhushan Singh Chaudhary and late Shri Kunwar Anand Dev Singh. At the time of start, the college was affiliated by the Agra University, then Kanpur University in 1967 and now under Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.From the initial stage the college was having only Arts Faculty with under-graduate classes in B.A. In the year 1966 the Science Faculty with B.Sc. in Maths. Group and in 1968 Bio. Group was started. In the same year under-graduate classes in Geography and Defence Studies were started. In the year 1969 the Faculty of Education was started with B.Ed. classes. In 1969 the post-graduate courses in English, Hindi and Sociology and in the next year the P.G. courses in Economics, Political Science and Mathematics were started. Similarly in 1980 the P.G. course in History, in 1993 P.G. in Chemistry and Botany, in 1996 P.G. courses in Zoology and Education (M.Ed.), and in 1998 B.Sc. course in Industrial Microbiology were initiated. Presently the college is trying to start P.G. courses in Geography, Sanskrit, Defence Studies, Physics and Industrial Microbiology. The college also initiating to start vocational-professional courses like B.B.A.,B.C.A. and certificate in Tourism, G.I.S. and Remote-Sensing.

Computer Laboratory

Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e-resource center, which provides access to e-resources among other things.

Library

Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full-text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.

Canteen

The College campus has a spacious and well-ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.

Seminar Rooms

The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
