Kameshwar Singh.Darbhanga Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya was established on January 26, 1961 and located in Darbhanga city under the Indian state of Bihar. During the establishment its jurisdiction was the whole of India. At present entire Bihar state is under the jurisdiction of this university. University was established under as a result of the generous generosity of Maharajradaraj Dr. Sir Kameshwar Singh and the then Chief Minister, Bihar Kesari Dr. Srikrishna Singh and the Governor of Bihar State, Dr. Zakir Hussain under the Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit Vishvavidyalay Act, 1960 (Bihar Act VI of 1960).
In the first cycle from 2006 to 2011 university has received the B++ grade from the NAAC and in the second cycle from 2016 to 2021 'B' grade is received with 2.70 CGPA and affiliated with the University Grants Commission and received from AIU.
