On 1st March, 1962 Magadh University was established. With a sprawling campus of 460 acres of land it is the largest university of Bihar enjoying the spiritual breeze of the Bodhi Tree which enlightened Lord Buddha. Foundation stone of the university is laid by the Dr. Sarvapali Radhakrishnan, the then President of India and first Vice Chancellor of the university was Dr. K.K Dutta, who was a renowned Historian. In 29 Subjects in various faculties such as Commerce, Management, Humanities, Science, and Vocational it imparts Post- Graduate courses. In nine hostels it offers hostel facilities to all students. Under this University there are 44 constituent and 105 affiliated colleges. Various foreign students are attracted by university with its quality of teaching, discipline and secular atmosphere which has offered a global halo to the University. To the need of needy aspirants the distant mode of education system has launched dozens of Diploma and Degree courses catering. With musical rhythm marching ahead in search of global peace culminating into spiritualism university is proud of enjoying the academic zeal, broad-mindedness and multi-dimensional vision of its Vice-Chancellor.
