The University of Jammu and Kashmir was established in the year 1948. In the year 1969 it was bisect into 2 full-fledged Universities: University of Jammu at Jammu and University of Kashmir at Srinagar. The University of Kashmir is placed at Hazratbal in Srinagar. It is belted by the world acclaimed Dal Lake on its east incidental and Nigeen Lake on the west side. The central Campus of the University increase over 247 acres of land is branched into 3 parts – Naseem Bagh Campus, Hazratbal Campus and Mirza Bagh Campus. Further land has been captured at Zakura near the central campus for farther development of the University. The amicable atmosphere of the Campus afford the correct kind of climate for genuine research and study. It has settled Satellite Campuses at Baramulla and Anantnag and 3 more Satellite squares at Kargil, Kupwara and Leh are being settled to make higher culture more available to all people breathing in distant fields of Kashmir valley. The University has also settled a Sub-Office at Jammu to coddle to the needs of the students commissioned with the academy from farther Kashmir.
