Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Avam Jansanchar Vishwavidyalaya was established by Government of Chhattisgarh vide Act no 24 of 2004. It is a journalism and mass communication university located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh also Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication (KTUJM). On April 16, 2005 Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the University who was a former Prime Minister a visionary statesman and a dedicated journalist. Sri Kushabhau Thakre who was one of the great political leaders of the country, university is named after him. On 16 April every year foundation day is celebrated. At village Kathadih, Raipur the university is located at a self contained campus. From the Bhathagaon Raipur it is roughly 6 kms away and the Airport is around 20 kms. The present campus has well equipped classrooms, library, Computer lab, faculty rooms, office, Audio-Visual studio, Language lab and other necessary infrastructure. A unique combination of traditional and modern architecture was the idea to build. The responsibility of construction has been entrusted by State Public Works Department. The second phase involves Multimedia Centre, Utility Block, Guest House, Administrative Block and Faculty Buildings.
