
Named after the first chief minister of erstwhile Madhya Pradesh Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University is Chhattisgarh's biggest and earliest school of higher education, settled in 1964. In the western part of the community of Chhattisgarh, Raipur University has a drape campus. In the University there are Twenty-Nine teaching departments and campus of University is spread in 207 acres of land. Buildings have been constructed recently in six departments. In some departments a variety of self financed courses have been initiated. To provide the administrative support at different levels, total number of employees is 700. With renowned professors and fellow scholars in one of the Chhattisgarh's most dynamic cities students also come from the neighboring States attracted by the opportunity to study and conduct advanced research. There are 5000 students who are steered under the guidance of more than 100 faculty members enrolled for variety of courses offered by the departments. Entire central and southern part of Chhattisgarh is covered by RSU. To the University there are 180 educational institutions affiliated.
