Bihar University of Health Sciences, Patna, established w.e.f 1st July 2022 by the Govt. of Bihar through the enactment of the Bihar University of Health Sciences Act 2021 (Bihar Act 19 of 2021) to affiliate all the existing health science colleges and institutions, set up by the Government and/or Trust or Society, which were earlier affiliated to the conventional universities in Bihar with a purpose of ensuring proper, systematic and uniform instruction, teaching, training and research in modern and Indians systems of medicine.

Bihar University of Health Sciences Patna is a state university established in 2021 offering diploma and undergraduate courses to students in the streams of nursing, dentistry, medicine, and science. It is approved by the state legislature/ parliament. The duration of courses varies depending on the course students opt for. BUHS offers GNM, ANM, BDS, BAMS, and B.Sc in various disciplines. 

To be eligible for admission students must fulfill the eligibility criteria and fill out the registration form available at the official website. The admission process for Bihar University of Health Sciences Patna is based on the merit of candidates in entrance and qualifying examinations. For UG admissions the candidates must appear for NEET UG Exam to be eligible for the enrollment process.

Bihar University of Health Sciences has three affiliated colleges - AHS Nursing College, Samastipur, Government Dental College and Hospital, Nalanda, and JP Institute of Ayurveda and Medical Science, Bihar. BUHS Patna offers facilities like a library, auditorium, sports, medical, cafeteria, laboratories, and IT infrastructure for a comfortable learning environment.
