A Master of Technology (MTech) in electronics and instrumentation is a
two-year post-graduation degree.
MTech electronics and instrumentation
engineering deals with theoretical and practical training in the operation
and design and maintenance of electronic instruments and other digital
logical systems.
MTech electronics and instrumentation engineering
eligibility is a bachelor’s degree in relevant subjects of electronics
(ECE/EIE) or an MSC holder in electronics. Along with that, the students must
have passed the MTech entrance examination such as GATE or the entrance examination
conducted by the university.
MTech electronics and instrumentation
engineering subjects offered under this program are Embedded systems,
measurement system design, Signals and systems, Instrumentation and measurement
techniques, advanced sensors, and many or more.
There are various public and private
institutions that offer this course. The average fees for the EIE range from
INR 10,600/- to INR 4 LPA. Along with the minimum eligibility, the students
must have passed the entrance exams such as GATE or the entrance examination
conducted by the university.
After graduating, the students can make a
successful career in different sectors such as civil aviation, defense,
development center, telephone industries and software engineering, power, home

Most of universities offer M-Tech
admission through the GATE exam. The students who have not qualified for the examination
or the ones who have not appeared for the same can apply through the entrance
criteria based on the particular college. Some of the private institutes also
conduct their own separate entrance examination such as the CU entrance test
for Chandigarh university etc.
Following are the steps that one should follow
for admission based on the entrance exam.
Registration: to take part in the GATE
counseling rounds, firstly one has to register themselves by filling in the
correct details in the form.
Choice filling & locking: after
registration, one has to make the choices of the college and the courses
Seat allotment: the candidates will be
allotted the seats on the basis of their rank in the GATE examination, choices
filled and the availability of seats in the college.
Document verification and payment of fees:
It is the final stage that involves the document verification for final admission followed by the payment of fees
The following is eligibility criteria for the
students applying for the MTech program in EIE specialization:
There are various national and state-level
entrance examinations to appear for admission in Mtech EIE. Some of them are
listed below:
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
(GATE): GATE is an entrance examination conducted by IISc Bangalore and seven
IITs for students seeking admission in postgraduate courses at top colleges
in India such as IIT, NIT, etc. It is an online examination conducted once in a
year of 100 marks and is of duration of 3 hours.
Andhra University Common Entrance
Test(AUCET): AUCET is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Andhra
University. The examination will be conducted in offline mode. There is no
negative marking in the exam the minimum percentage to pass the examination is
50% for the general category students.
Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE): It is
the entrance examination conducted by the OJEE committee of the Odisha
government to offer admission in UG and PG courses in Odisha colleges. The examination
is conducted in online mode. There is no negative marking in the examination.
To secure admission to a good college, the
following points have to be remembered:
Sort the preferred top-notch colleges in
that field. Take reviews from the seniors or guidance regarding &
placements, fees, college life, course curriculum, etc.
Get to know about the difficulty level of
that examination and the type of questions asked in the examination.
Give a look at the syllabus of the examination
and the weightage of each section.
Get to know about the marking scheme for
such examination and try to strengthen your topics which are easy for you.
Be aware of the dates of the exam and
counseling rounds.
Some of the colleges also take an interview
as a second round for admission, so make sure that you are aware of all the
recent affairs of the world along with have general knowledge.
MTech Electronics and Instrumentations
Engineering: Why study M.Tech Electronics and Instrumentations Engineering?
Here are a few good reasons to go for this
course:
There is a wide range of opportunities for an
EIE engineering. One can choose to work in a variety of industries are including instrumentation, automation,
digital systems, manufacturing etc.

their career by studying the specialized areas in EIE.
Top placements: After the post-graduation,
students get placed in top-notch
companies with high pays in both the private and public sectors.
Electronics/Instrumentation: The field
being a blend of both electronics & instrumentation, the students have a
choice to opt and make a career in
either of the possible areas.
Electronics and instrumentation engineering
is a combined branch of electronics engineering and instrumentation
engineering.
It is the advanced branch in electronics
that deals with the application of electronics, instrumentation, measurements,
and control for any process.
The branch includes practical calibration
of the instruments and automation of
processes
Apart from the core subjects such as
sensors and the transducers, measurements, etc, it also deals with the hardware
and software areas such as VLSI, embedded systems, etc.
