Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar was founded in 1968 with the magnanimous mission to bring transformative and constructive change in the lives of women folk of Punjab belonging to weaker sections of the society. Working progressively under the guidance and aegis of Khalsa College Governing Council, the college is forging ahead to establish a new world for women with a unique blend of academic excellence, self-learning, and strength of character, balanced perspective, equality and economic independence. It is focused on imparting quality, multidisciplinary and skill-oriented education in synchronization with the needs of 21st century and the multi-dimensional approach of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).The college is affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University and was also recognized under sections 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act in 2006. Two cycles of accreditation by NAAC were held in 2009 and 2017 and the college received ‘A’ grade in both. It is awarded 4 stars by MHRD Govt. of India. It is also rated among top 10 Science Colleges of India in the survey carried out by The Tribune. In 2018, Khalsa College for Women was shortlisted for the 10 best Vocational Education and Training Institutions in India by ‘The Knowledge Review A Global Education Magazine’.The college has regularly expanded its infrastructure and educational approach to match the advancing standards of education. It chisels its students for contemporary global challenges by providing a good range of 26 UG and PG level programs. The commencement of +1 and +2 in Arts, Science and Commerce streams is another milestone in the successful journey of the college.Besides these academic programs, the institution is proud to have affiliation of 4 skill based Certificate Courses under Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala. In addition, the college offers a variety of add-on courses in different disciplines so as to meet the diverse needs of the students. To make the students employable, we are also running coaching classes for the preparation of UGC-NET Examination and for other job-oriented competitive exams.The positive teaching approach of the faculty members targets to furnish the young minds with intellectual curiosity, innovation, creativity & scientific temper. The students are linked to the modern & traditional education through regular organization of seminars, conferences, workshops and guest lectures. Besides ICSSR sponsored seminars, research projects funded by ICSSR have been successfully completed and submitted by the college faculty in the last few years.In order to provide practical and experiential learning to the students, various departments of the college regularly arrange field and industrial visits, educational tours and trips etc. Our Placement Cell works hard to conduct recruitment drives in the college and to open doors for the students to work in various National and Multinational organizations. The institute has signed national and international MOUs with industry and academia of high repute to offer hands on experience, training and valuable exposure to students.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
