Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education is one of the most prestigious institution which was established in the year 1955 with B.T. class. When the college was established, it was then, known as Montgomery Guru Nanak Basic Training College. Dr. Harnam Singh, Retd. DPI (Colleges), Punjab, was the founder Principal of the college. In 1967, in response to the general directive of the Panjab University, the college acquired its present name. The main course also underwent a change. Earlier on, it used to be B.T., but later it was B.Ed. From 1955 to 1962 JBT classes functioned successfully on its premises. OT classes were also run from 1974 to 1977 in this college by the trust successfully. In the year 1991-92 the college took the initiative and started one year B.Ed.(Nursery and Elementary course), with graduation as the basic qualification. As the state Govt. did not recognize this course equivalent to B.Ed., it had to be discontinued in the session 1994-95. M.Ed. course was first offered in 1996 with the ultimate objective to make the institution a Research Centre with an intake capacity of 25 students. The intake capcity for M.Ed was increased to 50(1 unit) . Admissions in M.Ed course were discontinued from the year 2020-21. Pd.D programme was introduced in the year 2001. Intake capacity for B.Ed is 200 (4 units).Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education is fast coming up in the field of Teacher Education. Despite its earlier achievements, it continues to seek fresh fields and new pastures. Locally, ours is the most sought after college. Obviously, it’s nothing short of light house in the field of Teacher Education. It turns out year after year youthful teachers who perspire and inspire the ordinary into the extra ordinary.The college has a reputation in the academics. In every session, B.Ed. and M.Ed. students of this college bag one or more university positions. Not only this, students actively participate in co curricular activities and win laurels for the college. The college emphasizes on the training of skills related to usage of computer for assessing information from online and offline sources, for preparing presentations for teaching, research reviews and statistical analysis of data.The college focuses on the development of communication skills and versatility in the personality of students by providing regular exposure to seminars, workshops and extension lectures by experts, conferences, poetical recitation and debate competitions, morning assemblies etc. A lot of emphasis is laid on providing hands on experiences to students in the training of teaching skills, preparation of micro and composite lesson plans, visual aids, administration of psychology tests, operation of technological equipments, community surveys, usage of computer along with internet etc.

Computer Laboratory
Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things.
Library
Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian.
Canteen
The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors.
Seminar Rooms
The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.

Placements: Around 80% of students got placed easily. The highest package offered was around 5 LPA, and the lowest package was about 2 LPA. Around 60% of students got internships. The college supports you in every possible manner and guides you towards your future.Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on the college premises, and the speed of Wi-Fi is also good. Labs, classrooms and library are regularly cleaned and maintained. The quality of food in the college is good, and they prepare different food items on different days. Special food is available on special occasions.Faculty: All the teachers are qualified, helpful and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is awesome. They will definitely help you to clear your concepts. The course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Exams are quite difficult.
