For over a century now University has always occupied an esteemed place among the universities of India. Sir William Muir, then Lt. Governor of United Provinces got the credit for conceiving a large Central College at Allahabad. Allahabad University CRET Exam Pattern

CRET is Combined Research Entrance Test is divided into 3 different levels and is conducted by the University of Allahabad for entrance into Ph.D. study programs. 

* Level 1 includes a written exam. There will be 50 questions (for Section A) each carrying 4 marks. Section B also includes the 50 questions to evaluate the subject proficiency of the students. 

* Level 2 is more of a subjective-based exam and the sections cover questions on the subject expertise and research aptitude. The total time allotted for the completion of the section is 3 hours and the total marks are 200. There will be 3 sections for this level including the short, medium, and the long answer type.

* Level 3 which is the final round is a personal interview round. This section also includes the other forms of the appraisals like presentations and group discussions. Those who clear in 1st level can only move to the next level. At least 40% marks scored in each of the sections of level I or level II is mandatory to get qualified for the level
