This Co-Ed Polytechnic was set up by legislature of Rajasthan in the year 1959 to give specialized instruction of Diploma level.

The establishment reared from its incipient organism in the year 1960 with three traditional parts of Civil Engg., Electrical Engg. furthermore, Mechanical Engg. Later more branches specifically Instrumentation Engg. (1971), Chemical Engg. (1974), Electronics Engg. (1986), Plastic Tech.(1991) and Computer Sc. and Engg. (2001) cleared its way into the framework. Presently, the establishment is offering in complete eight Diploma Engineering courses.

It involves extraordinary pride that the Institute is outstanding for its brilliant scholarly and extra-curricular measures. NITTTR, Chandigarh granted 'Best Polytechnic Award' in Northern Region for the year 2005-06.
