NIA is AN apex Institute below the Department of AYUSH for promoting the expansion and development of written material as a model Institute for evolving high standards of teaching, training, research, and patient care and conjointly to invoke scientific outlook to the data of Ayurvedic System of drugs. The Institute, AN Autonomous Body below Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, is registered below the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958.
The erstwhile Government Ayurvedic college of Jaipur of the government. of Rajasthan was incorporated to make the Institute. All the teaching and non-teaching workers of the then Government Ayurvedic faculty of Jaipur and conjointly the teaching workers of presidency Ayurvedic faculty of Udaipur were screened for absorption within the Institute. Those workers suggested by the Screening Committee and approved by the body were finally absorbed within the Institute.
