Anna University offers a Ph.D. study program in the fields of Engineering, Science, Computer Applications, Management, and Arts. The students may opt to apply online or can even download the application from the university’s official web portal. For admission to the Ph.D. study program at Anna University, One must have cleared his/her master’s degree in the related field, that one wishes to apply for.
Students will be selected on the basis of their preceding academic performances. Shortlisted students will be called in for a written entrance exam and an interview, final selection will be an amalgamation of all three factors.
Anna University Ph.D. Minimum Eligibility Criteria
* Students must have a master's degree or any other qualification recognized as an equivalent degree in the fields of study that the student is applying for.
* Students should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology of the University or any other qualification recognized as the equivalent degree in the fields of study with a minimum of 15 years of Research and the development (R & D) experience in National Research Laboratories / Public sector undertakings and with a minimum of three publications in referred impact factor journals or two approved international patents in the last 5 years.
* Students should have a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination (50% marks or CGPA of 5.0 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST candidates).
* Students having an M.phil course Degree in the related field of the proposed Ph.D. course field of research, then the minimum duration of the program reduces by one year (i.e) for the full-time it becomes 2 years and for the part-time it reduces to 3 years.
Anna University Ph.D. Selection Procedure
* Only the applications having the consent of the recognized supervisor from the recognized department of Anna University, Chennai is considered for admission to the Ph.D. study program. Other applications are summarily rejected without any notification.
* The preliminary scrutiny will be done by the Centre for Research and shortlist the eligible students. The short-listed students shall be called for a written exam (to be conducted in the University Departments of Anna University, Chennai only) by the Director, Entrance Examination.
* The Syllabus for the written exam for various specializations will be posted on the website by the Director (Research).
* The selection shall be based on the performance of the student in the written exam, interview round, and the marks obtained in the PG qualifying degree.
