    National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) was established by the National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Act No. XXV of 2009) as the 14 National Law University established in the country and is located in the Guwahati, the capital city of the Assam. This Act was later amended the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (Amendment) Act, 2011 (Act 2 of 2012), wherein the word ‘School’ was replaced by the word ‘University’. The objectives of the National Law University.

    NLU  Course Structure:

    It offers the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five Year Integrated Courses in which the Social Sciences subjects are the integrated with the Law subjects. It follows the Semester System.  It also offers the One-Year Postgraduate of  Course (LL.M.) with specialization in different groups. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of this University.

    Eligibility Criteria:

    Candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with minimum 55% marks in the aggregate (47% marks in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).

    Candidate should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2016.

    NLU Assam LLM Eligibility Criteria

    Listed below are the eligibility criteria that need to be satisfied in order to get through LLM in NLU Assam.

    To ensure admission in LLM, the applicant are required to possess an LLB degree or the five-year integrated LLB degree.

    The minimum aggregate for the applicant's bachelor’s degree is 60%.

    SC/ST applicants can apply for the course with 57% aggregate marks. The university provides them with 7% relaxation.

    ·         The candidates are required to pass class 12 from a recognized board of the education, for instance, CBSE

    ·         The candidates must pass class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks. The SC/ST candidates are provided 5% relaxation and can apply with 45% minimum aggregate marks.

    ·         The students appearing for the Class 12 or any equivalent examination can also apply, given that they provide the necessary qualifying documents before the or during the time of admission.

     The library at  University, also known as the Padma shri Madaram Brahma central library has to vast collection of books, journals, periodicals, magazines and CD/DVDs for the students and the staff. The library has implemented the library management of system software SOUL 2.5 with the barcode-based circulation system. The library also has also digital collection of e-journals and internet facilities.

    Health care centre:

     The Medical Department of the  University came into force in the year 2013 with two staff nurses and one pharmacist. Now, one medical officer and one of ward boy are also included in the medical team, which render treatment and medical-related support to the students and staff of the University.

    Canteen:

     The university also has a canteen which provides nutritious and quality food at affordable rates to the staff and the students.
