The Waikhom Mani Girls' College situated at Thoubal Okram, Thoubal District, Manipur, 22 km. away from Imphal city, was set up on twentieth November 1980 with incredible eagerness by the nearby individuals, educationist and social laborers for advancement of female advanced education where the ladies proficiency rate is exceptionally low in contrast with those of urban zones. At the hour of foundation the school was named "Thoubal Girls' College". On ninth February 1981, the establishment stone of the school was set down at the present grounds of Thoubal Okram town, next to the Indo Myanmar street "NH 39". Waikhom Ahanba Singh, gave Rs. 1,00,000/ - for development of four study halls and the College was rechristened to Waikhom Mani Girls' College out of appreciation for his dad Waikhom Mani Singh, Ex-Deputy Minister, Education, Government of Manipur (1965).
