Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology established as a full-fledged University has unique honor of being called “First Agriculture University of the third millennium and the 21st century". It is committed to a unique mandate of integrating education research and extension so as to serve the rural people. The University was established on 2nd October 2000 under Uttar Pradesh Agriculture University Act (revised) 1958 gazette and notified vide 3204A/X12-8-2000. It was inaugurated on 28th March 2002 by the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. It is recognized and funded by U.P. Govt. & ICAR, Govt. of India. It is included in the list of recognized Universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master's degree in the subject that the doctorate is going to be pursued in from a UGC Recognized University or Institute.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks will be given to reserved category candidates.
• A person whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the same Institution.

Application Process

• Application form for UPCATET is available on its official website.
• After filling the application form, upload scanned photograph and signature.
• Application fees for general and OBC category is INR 1250 and for SC / ST candidates is INR 1050.
• Payment can be made online through net banking or through e-challan deposited in any branch of SBI bank.

Admissions Procedure

• Through Combined Agriculture and Technology Entrance Test (CATET) at State level. In pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 384 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar Pradesh Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya (Dwitiya Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2006 (Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 16 of 2006) as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Governor on May 23, 2006. (3-a) The Registrar shall be responsible for organizing, by rotation, joint Entrance Examination for admission in all courses of study of the four State Agricultural Universities.
